I used Rick Travers to buy my first house. I had never tried to buy a house and had been in Memphis for about 5 years so didn't really know much about the process. I had a general idea where I wanted to live and the price range I was looking at but didn't really know what amenities and other features I liked in a house. My girlfriend and I were living in South Bluffs Apartments with our miniature dachshund at the time so we decided to buy a house, preferably with a yard, instead of a condo. We looked around and decided South Bluffs and Mud Island were the best areas to explore to find a house with a yard. I asked all my friends and drove around to see who's name was all over those two areas and yielded the same result - Rick Travers. I reached out to Rick to look at houses and he immediately began showing us houses at various price points in those two areas without having to sign any paperwork. He was very flexible in showing times and even worked to show us houses that weren't his listings. We did begin to notice that the houses he listed had some better minor upkeep and touches than the other listings though, which was very reassuring and told us he liked to offer a superior product. We kept looking at houses with Rick and he would coordinate multiple listings to narrow down the features we liked (since we didn't know at first) and to make sure we had a first-hand look at houses before or right when they hit the market since they move fast in South Bluffs and Mud Island. We looked for about 3-4 months with Rick before he finally showed us a house he just got to list and was able to get us in to see it before it hit the market. We loved it! Everything we needed with a yard and at a great price. I didn't have a mortgage lender but we wanted to get this house before it hit the market so we had to find one ASAP. I asked one of my friends who was a first time home buyer like me and Rick for recommendations and they came back with the same lender - Ann Bell with Mortgage Investors Group. She was so helpful and great to work with and is great for first time home-buyers since she explains everything in simple terms and is always accessible. Ann hooked everything up with my mortgage with a terrific rate and Rick had even positioned the house so well we were able to get everything we asked for before executing a contract on the house in less than 48 hours. Rick made everything happen so easily up to that point, but I wasn't really sure of next steps. It turns out I didn't have to - Rick coordinated everything! Rick setup termite and home inspections based on my schedule with really good people, worked with Ann Bell to make sure mortgage processes were proceeding, and coordinated the attorney who was handling the closing. It seemed like I hadn't done anything and in no time we did a final walk through prior to closing with absolutely no problems. Everything was so seamless it didn't seem real. This was my first time buying a house but I had heard horror stories, and I now know it is because they didn't use Rick Travers.
